JFCC Speaker Event: Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Indonesia’s Minister of Finance
Thu, 11 Feb 2021
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati is one of the longest serving finance ministers in Indonesia, having also held the post in the previous administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The minister, a former managing director of the World Bank, has won global plaudits for the fiscal discipline she has brought to Southeast Asia’s biggest economy.
But steering the country’s finances through the COVID-19 pandemic is her biggest challenge yet with the economy suffering its first recession in two decades last year.
A national vaccination programme has now been kicked off, but with coronavirus cases and deaths hitting new records other measures to reduce transmission will continue to be needed through 2021 and possibly beyond. The impact of these on income, trade and Indonesia’s balance sheet need to be carefully managed.
How can the economy be coaxed out of recession and back into growth?
Please join us for the timely address from the Minister at the heart of Indonesia’s economic policy making.
